Job Description:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a retail business that has had a key presence on the UK high street for over 100 years. Our client is looking to strengthen their Merchandising team, and this Senior Merchandiser opportunity will either suit an existing Senior Merchandiser who is ready for a new challenge or an experienced Merchandiser who is looking for their next step.
The key purpose of this role is to drive key commercial opportunities to maximise sales and profit, through efficient use of stock, driving continuous improvements, and critical path management.
The role will be based at our clients’ Head Office in Cheshire with hybrid working is in place.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee multiple categories, whilst working in partnership with Buyers to research and select products that align with the brand's identity and target audience.
• Influence Buyers by supporting them with performance analysis.
• Develop and execute seasonal and annual commercial strategies to maximise departmental profit.
• Lead on multiple category strategies to drive commercial performance and profitability,
• Planning rate of sales for promotional activity, new initiatives and core range reviews.
• Providing commercial roll ups to present for sign off to senior leadership team, and board level.
• Establish price architecture with specific pricing strategies that align with overall business strategy.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate product availability while minimising excess stock.
• Manage exit of stock with profitability modelling and analysis. Forward plan to ensure the right stock, right place, right time.
• Management of WSSI for multiple categories to support cash flow forecasting, whilst maintaining availability and maintaining shelf fill.
• Expertly manage the OTB budget, ensuring cash flow is optimized and stock-to-sales ratios are healthy. Own, manage and execute intake plans in line with inbound and stock budget targets.
• Analyse sales data to identify trends and make informed decisions about product assortment and pricing.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and ensure product quality.
• Stay updated on customer preferences and market trends to anticipate demand.
• Own your own critical path for your categories and manage key stakeholders to ensure new initiatives and promotional activities launch on time and in full.
• Influence and work with key stakeholders such as the logistics team to manage end-to-end product stock flow.
• Develop and support junior members of the team to ensure high performing teams.
What we’re looking for:
You will have a high-performing proven track-record in a core retail merchandising role, being highly commercial as well as having excellent numerical and analytical skills. Strong Excel and data handling skills are a must.
