Job Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading independent prestigious used car supermarket as a Vehicle Preparation Centre Manager. As the Vehicle Preparation Centre Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the Vehicle Preparation Centre. This includes managing the workflow of vehicles through various stages of inspection, maintenance, and preparation for sale or delivery. You'll ensure that all vehicles meet quality standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you'll be accountable for leading and developing a team of technicians and administrative staff to achieve operational efficiency and excellence.

The Role:

Operations Management:
• Coordinate and oversee all activities within the Vehicle Preparation Centre, including receiving, inspection, maintenance, repair, valeting, and final quality checks.
• Develop and implement efficient workflow processes to optimize productivity and minimize turnaround time.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in all operations.
• Monitor inventory levels of parts, supplies, and equipment necessary for vehicle preparation activities.

Team Leadership:
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of Technicians, Mechanics, Valetors, and Administrative staff.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment conducive to high performance and employee morale.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and ongoing development opportunities to enhance team skills and competencies.
• Delegate tasks effectively and empower team members to take ownership of their responsibilities.

Quality Assurance:
• Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure that all vehicles meet company standards and customer expectations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Address customer concerns and complaints related to vehicle quality or preparation processes promptly and effectively.

Customer Service:
• Collaborate with sales, customer service, and other departments to prioritize and expedite vehicle preparation according to customer needs and deadlines.
• Communicate proactively with customers regarding the status of their vehicles and address any inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
• Strive to deliver exceptional service and exceed customer satisfaction metrics.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Analyse performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management outlining operational performance, challenges, and proposed solutions.

About you:

• You'll have proven experience in automotive operations management, preferably in a vehicle preparation or service centre environment.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in utilising automotive industry software and systems for inventory management, workflow optimization, and reporting.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices in vehicle preparation and maintenance.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Certification or training in lean management, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies would be an advantage but not essential.
